Heading out from Inchcruin was even choppier than the previous night but to be honest we got used to the waves pretty quickly and we were loving the challenge.

Karlos > So we were on the water at last but after the six hour drive and arrival time of 6:30pm we just wanted to find our first place to set up camp and chill out for the evening. From Balmaha we headed off for Bucinch, this was my first open water crossing in a canoe and it was a little unnerving at first being buffetted about and the canoe was sitting considerably lower in the water than I was used to with two 6' oafs in it and a load of kit! We reached Bucinch and it looked as though the only decent place to camp had been taken. So we headed off in the direction of nearby Inchcruin, which had many signs around it saying no landing and a large private house. Feeling that we were running out of time we headed around the back of Inchcruin where it was dense forest and found a little spot to set up camp for our first night.

Karlos > This is our little spot hidden away on Inchcruin, it was midge ridden. Luckily the midge nets were just big enough to fit a well earned can of beer underneath!

Karlos > Doing the washing up the next morning on Inchcruin. We later found out that the Island was used for 'the confinement of insane people' in the 18th century! I thought it felt a bit weird to be honest.
A Park ranger also informed us that one of the Islands was used to house nagging wives but that they couldn't find an Island big enough :¬)
